Packs that add a reason to play or unique features. Themed packs mainly, as kitchen sink packs are a dime a dozen (just throw a ton of new mods in and you're good to go), but things like AG skies, BR:D, infernal skies, regrowth, etc. I can only speak as a player, but the reason I haven't moved over is super simple: there aren't the same quality of packs on 1.10 as there are 1.7.10. ![]() TL:DR Less, newer mods isn't enticing enough for people used to legendary huge packs like FTB Infinity with mods they've known since 1.6. A lot of people would rather not re-learn everything. Blood Magic is totally new, Extra Utilities has no nether star generator, I hear IC2 brought back the E-Net, Mekanism looks all weird (/s), etc. Many mods are a significant change to the current norms. Bound Armor, Vampirism, KAMI, and Soulbone Armor in 1.8.9 drew people to the end of the magic path, and they're all gone too. As much as I dislike Draconic Evolution, it definitely drew people to the end of the tech path a bit. I can't think of much in current 1.9.4 that acts as a nice goal for players to reach at the very end. I know 1.9.4 had some optimizations, but it seems like results vary person-to-person. Now that PSI's lost some novelty (still a new and really awesome mod, don't get me wrong), there's nothing in current 1.9.4 packs to get people to make the move.įastCraft is missing, which might have significantly lowered a lot of peoples' performance. With 1.8, people got into that version for mods like Intangible (maybe that was just me :P) and TC5, or the totally-new-and-out-of-the-blue PSI. 1.9's changes are pretty significant, and it takes time for people to be willing to learn a whole new system that departs so much from what they're familiar with. Variety in power generation (so far it's solar panels, a few variations on coal generators, and Deep Resonance). QoL tech features that made automation fun and easy in 1.7.10 but are absent in 1.9.4, like EU/RF/T converters. It's Botania and Blood Magic and Roots, right? and that's it for most people. Unique tech mods (two exceptions: Matter Overdrive and Calculator, but they aren't often used)Ī substantial magic mod base. This is out of my pure curiosity (and I want to see if there's small mods I can help get over the hump if they need help :P) I do not mean to nor do I want to incite any sort of drama or salt. So I'm wondering what is it that we're missing that is preventing people from playing 1.9/10 and making packs for it? A specific set of Cool ore-doubling Famous Headmaster mods? Some glue mod? Packers don't like it? Your favourite mod X? Let me hear you! I don't play specialized modpacks much, preferring to roll my own set. I do fully understand, though, that packs are still on it, and even new packs come out with it occasionally, and they aren't without their reasons Face it - it is - it came out in 2013, 3 years ago! Having been here to watch it grow from nothingness to how many mods there are now is pretty amazing and I didn't expect so many to get over the jump.Įvery time someone says "1.7.10 is dead/EOL" they get mass downvoted to the pits of hell for no reason. ![]() These past few months, we've slowly gained traction on first 1.8.9 then 1.9.4 and now finally 1.10.x. Unique/new niche mods special to each Mc version that have not appeared in 1.9/10 yet ![]() The average value of all EU-Packets traveling through a cable per tick is the same as EU/t.Edit: thanks for sharing your thoughts! The points that I've seen the most: EU-Packets come in varying magnitudes from 1 EU to 1 million EU. All machines and cables accept a maximum packet size and many devices (such as transformers and energy storage units) will only output energy in specific packet sizes. EU will not flow if there is nothing to actively draw it.Īn EU-Packet ( EUP or EU/p) represents a discrete unit of energy. EU/t can be measured by an EU-Reader, giving the average EU/t flowing through a cable or block. It is a derived unit that represents the energy transferred over time and is similar to the Watt. EU can be transported through cables to power various IC2 machines.ĮU/t means Energy Units per Tick. EU can be stored in various blocks and items including BatBox, Energy Crystal, BatPack, and many more. EU can be created through various IC2 generators. It is similar to the SI unit of the Joule. EU stands for Energy Unit and is the unit of energy used by IndustrialCraft 2.
